Who is Brian? I’m an Arizonan, a musician (percussionist), I run Rhythmspice.com, and I’m a language-fan (Spanish and Portuguese).
io4 is my take on merging the speed, rhythm, and danceability of drum’n’bass with live musicians. io4 is my attempt to bridge the very computerized, rigid nature of electronica with the organic elements of jazz to create a unique sound for drum’n’bass fans. I often find friends and musicians to be intimidated or disinterested in jazz, normally because it is unfamiliar, and perhaps cacophonous. But, at it’s heart, jazz is about improvisation above all else. io4 explores this trait, but uses the excitement of drum’n’bass rhythms and textures to create something that can appeal to all types of audiences.
